Celebrating 30 Years at Glory Days Grill

Last night wasn’t just another evening, it was a full-circle moment for a hometown favorite. Glory Days Grill, the original location that started it all was founded on April 16, 1996, by Richard Danker, Robert Garner, and Jeff Newman, marked their 30-year anniversary with a celebration that felt equal parts reunion, party, and tribute to the community that helped build it.  Gary Cohen joined in 2006, becoming EVP and a key leader in the chain’s expansion and community-based marketing, which has helped GDG become a local mainstay.  Legionary Jim Rafferty was the restaurants manager and OG Partner for the first 25 years and now the Director of Sales, Catering & Marketing.  Ryan Corrigan is now the flagship manager and has been with the company for more than 10 years.

Glory Days began as a neighborhood sports grill with a simple idea: bring people together over great food, sports, and shared experiences. Over the years, it has grown into a regional staple with dozens of locations—but our neighborhood grill remains its heart and origin story.

Walking into the restaurant last night, that legacy was unmistakable. Longtime regulars, families, and first-time guests all filled the space, creating an atmosphere that felt more like a celebration of community than just a business milestone.

Supervisor Pat Herrity, Springfield District on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors presented Richard Danker and the GDG team with their prestigious Bea Malone Award displaying outstanding service to the Fairfax County community.

A Night of Nostalgia and Energy

The anniversary event leaned into its roots with a fun, nostalgic vibe—complete with ‘90s music and a lively crowd that reflected three decades of loyal fans.

There was a sense that everyone at the event had a story: Little League teams celebrating wins, families marking milestones, and friends gathering for game nights.  One couple shared a story that they had met at Glory Day’s and shared their first kiss 16 years ago. That’s been the DNA of Glory Days since the beginning, and last night brought it all to the surface.

Of course, no Glory Days celebration would be complete without the food. The limited-time 30th anniversary menu delivered exactly what you’d expect—comfort food with a twist and plenty of fan favorites.

Highlights included:

  • The “30 wings for $30” anniversary bucket
  • Korean BBQ wings and classic bone-in specials
  • A mushroom truffle burger and crispy chicken sandwich
  • Indulgent desserts like molten lava cake
  • Signature drinks and refreshing mocktails

More Than a Restaurant

What makes Glory Days stand out isn’t just the menu—it’s the consistency. Even after 30 years and significant growth, the brand has held onto its identity as a welcoming, family-friendly gathering place.

Last night proved that success isn’t just measured in expansion, but in relationships. From staff members who have been part of the journey for years to customers who grew up dining there, the celebration felt deeply personal.

While the anniversary event may be over, the celebration continues with the special menu running for a limited time. But more importantly, the milestone serves as a reminder: in an industry where trends come and go, staying true to your roots still matters.
