St. Patrick’s Day in Orange Hunt: Activities for the Whole Family

Spring is in the air, and the Orange Hunt community is getting ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in true neighborhood style! Whether you’re Irish at heart or just love an excuse to wear green, there’s something fun for everyone this March 17th. Here’s a look at what’s happening around our community.

Irish Pub & Bar Celebrations

These local pubs and bars often host Irish food, live music & drink specials on St. Patrick’s Day and the surrounding weekend:

  • The Auld Shebeen – Traditional Irish pub in Fairfax that typically celebrates with good food, pints, and live music around St. Patrick’s Day.
  • Ireland’s Four Provinces – Irish pub in Falls Church known for specials, traditional dishes, and drinks (great option within driving distance).
  • Ned Devine’s – Irish-themed spot in Herndon with food, drink, and often live entertainment around March 17.
  • Yard House – Restaurant in Springfield Town Center that typically features drink specials & entertainment for holidays like St. Patrick’s Day.
  • Shooters Sports Bar and P.J. Skidoos – Local bars that are popular destinations for St. Patrick’s Day festivities (drink specials, music).

These venues often have live music, Irish-inspired food & drink specials, and holiday events around the holiday. Check their websites or call ahead for specific plans closer to the date.

Nearby Regional Happenings

If you’re up for a short drive (~20–40 min), there are often larger holiday celebrations in the broader DC/Northern Virginia area:

  • St. Patrick’s Day bar crawls / pubs specials in nearby Arlington and Alexandria, with drink specials, punchcard crawls, and festive atmospheres throughout St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
  • Irish music and cultural events at venues across the DC metro typically appear in DC and Arlington pubs during the weekend.

Family & Community Activities

Some Fairfax County parks and libraries hold leprechaun craft sessions, science activities with a St. Patrick’s theme, and nature events on March 17 itself: LEPRECHAUN-centric kids’ events, nature hikes plus Irish dance performances. Check your local community center and library calendars for specific times and registration info.
